A bit like 'It'll be alright on the night' this page is dedicated to gaffs, bloopers, cods and errors.

First mistake was the positioning of the aft diving plane servo. I'd popped it in and set it all up and hadn't given a single thought to the rudder servo. Then I came to do the rudder and thought 'Oops! There would have been a nice place for a servo', and consequently had to heavily modify (wood wise) the aft diving plane servo carrier.

Above, how it was. To the right, how it is now, doh!

The diving plane servo and supports have been moved to the left and the rudder servo and supports dropped into place. Right little pain in the tail that was.

Dropped cod number two:

Ummm, while planking the uncapped side ribs, I, err, used the staple gun to fire a nail through the plank and into the rib support and, *cough*, the rib shot off across the room! Doh! So, I had to glue it back on with Araldite and build it up a bit. Oh well. No more nail stapling planks to ribs down this stretch.

MAJOR modification going on now. Go here to see why.

There is going to be a major downturn in the number of times this site is updated. After getting fed up with some major gaffs in this project, ie, inaccessible parts as the hull continues to grow, I've decided to strip the hull of it's rudder and diving planes and make the hull a master for a fibreglass mould. This process is going to take a little time and as I progress with the modifications I will start to post the progress made in BASIC CONSTRUCTION PART IV. This may happen quickly it may be a couple of weeks. Either way, I think fibreglass is the way to go.

Basic Construction Part IV is now under way.

All modifications will now be chronicled in BASIC CONSTRUCTION IV and onwards. This is to make it easier to follow what is hapening as the Nautilus evolves.
